Vtg Retro Lemon Yellow Tensor Lamp MID Century Modern Adjustable Articulating

Vtg GERALD THURSTON LIGHTOLIER MUSHROOM TABLE LAMP Mid Century SPACE AGE Retro

Excellent mid century modern Lightolier table lamp, designed by Gerald Thurston, in overall very nice original vintage condition. This piece measures roughly 20″ tall, while the hard plastic white shade measures 13″ in diameter. The lamp is in good working order as it sits right now. Nothing needs to be done to it. There are no big melted out areas from light bulbs getting too hot and being left on common. In vintage lamps composed of plastic. The black colored ABS plastic base is looking good. Perfect mushroom form and shape. No significant areas of damage to mention. No visible discoloring, chips, cracks, big gouges, etc… Very minor tiny amount of very light wear might have the slight possibility of being found throughout the whole piece when looking closely, nothing bad at all though. The only thing to mention is the tiny crack to the top of the shade where the plastic has separated a little bit (last picture). This does not effect the overall aesthetic or structural integrity of the lamp in any way, and could probably be super glued back if you desired. G PLAN BRANDON TALLBOY CHEST. Here is lovely piece of mid-century design from the 1950s by E Gomme for G Plan. The Brandon range pre-dated G Plans more Danish influenced designs, and had its own very English post war utility style. Nice quality piece with lovely colour and grain pattern to the wood. Mix of solid oak and oak veneer with solid wooden handles. A timeless piece becoming increasingly find to hard. CONDITION overall for its age is good, there are of course the usual age related scratches and marks mainly to top. Couple of small chips to veneer on drawer front and bottom plinth. 97 high x 76 wide x 46 deep. The older pieces of furniture are better made, normally by craftsmen and not machines, have more character & if looked after will last many years. I also love much older pieces, if they are unusual, well made & a great design I will offer them for sale. I like to keep pieces as original as possible & will clean & re oil / wax. Vintage Teak G Plan RARE Sideboard Mid Century G-Plan Fresco. British furniture manufacturing company G-Plan was launched in 1953, but its roots go back much further. In 1898, Ebenezer Gomme (18581931) set up a fine woodworking atelier, E. In High Wycombe, England, a major center of British furniture manufacturing. By the early 1900s, E. Gomme had transitioned into a larger factory facility, and in 1911, his sons took the helm. The company was revered for its range of high-quality sideboards, tables, and other cabinet goods and for pioneering the concept of dining room sets. Designed and made to match. Gomme continued to flourish until the 1940s. During World War II, Britain experienced a timber shortage and the British government was forced to enact strict controls on unnecessary industries like furniture production. This led to a program called the Utility Scheme, which was intended to cultivate a market for more austere and utilitarian solutions to home goods. Among the programs efforts, the landmark 1946 Britain Can Make It exhibition at the V&A Museum. Made great strides in swaying the British public toward more modernist tastes. With the success of the next exhibition in this program, The Festival of Britainwhich presented work by modern designers like Robin and Lucienne Day. At Londons South Bank in 1951Donald Gomme became certain that a radical, more minimalist aesthetic was about the sweep the furniture design industry. Thus began G-Plan, an offshoot of the traditional furniture company E. Although most of the British public reverted to traditional tastes after the war, there was a small but growing market for high-quality, modernist furniture, and G-Plan successfully spoke to this younger, more progressive audience. Through clever marketing campaigns, G-Plan set the standard for modernist, mass-market furniture in postwar Britain. G-Plans C Range, with an aesthetic that celebrated its machine production, was launched in 1953, and by 1957 it had become enormously popular. Donald Gomme stepped down from G-Plan in 1958, confident in the strength of the company that he had built. By the 1960s, the Scandinavian look was sweeping international design, and British-made furniture was being outsold by Danish imports. To compete, G-Plan brought in Danish designer Ib Kofod-Larsen. To create new collections in fine woods, like teak and rosewood. While these Kofod-Larsen pieces have become very collectible today, at the time, they were not well appreciated by the design communityperhaps viewed as lesser variations on the furniture available from Scandinavia. Despite the competition, G-Plan remained one of the most recognised names in furniture manufacturing in the UK through the end of the 1970s. The table stands on round tapering legs with a central leaf and finished in a very striking figured teak. The chairs are shaped throughout with tapering legs and shaped uprights with their original black vinyl seats. As you can see a great example of mid century furniture. The shelves and the cabinet are in very good vintage condition, the uprights retain there original feet, normal age related wear to the paint but nothing detracting. All joints to the cabinet are solid and the cabinets retain the original Ladderax key. A great piece with lots of flexible storage.
